Join us on Saturday, May 20, 2017 for a trip to the Laurel Highlands “Summit Inn” for lunch and a tour of the famous “Falling Water”.

Departing the New Philadelphia Walmart parking lot we will travel to the Summit Inn for lunch. The Summit Hotel was first opened to the public in 1907. Due to its excellent facilities, it’s location on Chestnut Ridge, and the beautiful views, the resort was an immediate success. The original hotel register, proudly displayed in the lobby, dates back to 1917 when Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, and Thomas Edison brought the American Science Wizards here to test their inventions up and down the mountain.

Next, it’s off to tour Fallingwater, a masterpiece of organically designed architecture designed in 1935 by America’s architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, for the Edgar J. Kaufmann family, owners of Kaufmann’s Department Stores.  Fallingwater was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966 and is listed among the Smithsonian’s Lists of 28 Places “to see before you die”.
