Day One

This morning we get on the road early as we start our journey to upstate New York. A stop in Lockport, NY for an included lunch followed by a cruise on the historic Erie Canal. Your fun and informative cruise will take you past five of the original 1800’s locks. The lively narration by the Coast Guard Licensed Captains is also accompanied by crowd-pleasing canal music, popular during the 1800’s. (Lunch)

Day Two

Arrive in Lake Placid, NY. Our first stop will be the Mountain Pass Lodge at the Mt. Van Hoevenberg Olympic Bobsled Run Venue. This is a venue for bobsled, luge and skeleton competitions. It was used for the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics and will play host to the World University Games featuring 2,500 of the world’s best winter sports athletes. We will also stop at the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex One of the most-recognizable competition venues from the 1980 Winter Olympics. After our time here, we will check into our 3-night stay at the Grand Adirondack Hotel located right on Main Street in the heart of Lake Placid. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day Three

Today is all about Lake Placid. The morning will start with a drive up Veteran’s Memorial Highway to the summit of Whiteface Mountain. At the summit, there are a few things you do not often find atop a peak: a castle built from native stone, a food truck, gift shop, an elevator carved deep inside the mountain top itself, plus a truly spectacular 360-degree, panoramic view of unparalleled beauty. No visit to Lake Placid is complete without a stop at the Olympic Center, which houses three ice surfaces. The 1980 United States Olympic Hockey Team’s victory over the Soviet Union will be remembered as one of the greatest athletic events of all time. After free-time for lunch and shopping in the village we visit High Falls Gorge, a privately owned nature park. Here, we can take a walk to view the famous AuSable River. Sturdy bridges, walkways, and groomed walking trails provide safe access to breathtaking views and scenic photographic vantage points. We will be able to view four-splendid waterfalls cascading over rocks into a deep crevice carved a billion years ago. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day Four

After a hearty breakfast, we board the bus and head to Vermont. Our drive will take us to Essex, NY where we will take a 30-minute ferry ride across Lake Champlain. The crossing offers spectacular views of the Adirondack and Green Mountains. Shelburne Museum, one of the most popular attractions in Vermont is our destination. This 45- acred campus features Shaker design Round Barns, a General Store, a carousel, and the 220-foot sidewheel steamboat Ticonderoga. Here, visitors also enjoy strolling the beautifully landscaped grounds with 22 gardens. After our time in Shelburne, we will enjoy some leisure time in the heart of the city of Burlington: Church Street Marketplace, which is a National Historic District with thriving shops, cafe’s, and carefully maintained streets and walkways. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day Five

Today we leave behind Lake Placid and head to Blue Mountain Lake, NY. Here we will spend some time at the Adirondack Experience Museum. Perched on 120 sprawling acres overlooking stunning Blue Mountain Lake, the museum tells the compelling story of the region’s past, present and future. There will be plenty of time here to explore the 20 galleries and historic buildings. Next, we will take a narrated luncheon cruise on nearby Racquette Lake. This beautiful 90-minute cruise includes historic commentary and beautiful views. We will leave behind the Adirondacks as we make our way to Syracuse for the night and dinner on our own. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day Six

Today we start our journey home with a stop in Jamestown, NY for lunch. We will also visit the Lucy-Desi Museum. The museum celebrates the life of a local legend Lucille Ball and her partner Desi Arnaz. Afterwards we will start for home with wonderful memories of another great Warther Tour to the Adirondacks. (Breakfast, Lunch)
