Welcome to Texas where everything is Bigger! Our first stop on the tour is the Fort Worth “Stockyards” National Historic District. From the original brick walkways to the wooden corrals, every inch of the Stockyards tells the true history of Texas’s famous livestock industry. One of the main attractions of the Stockyards is the daily cattle drive, where you can witness cowboys and cowgirls on horseback guiding a herd of longhorn cattle down Exchange Avenue. This spectacle takes you back in time to the days when Fort Worth was a vital hub for the cattle industry. The sight of the magnificent longhorns and the skill of the cowhands is truly awe-inspiring. Dinner will be at a local restaurant in Fort Worth. (Dinner)
Day Two
Today features the “Magnolia Market at the Silos”! Magnolia Market and its famous landmark silos occupy two city blocks in downtown Waco. Owned by HGTV “Fixer Upper” stars Chip and Joanna Gaines, the store offers items in Joanna’s unique style. You can experience the “Market”, relax on the lawn, grab a bite at the food trucks, visit the garden and treat yourself at the Silos Baking Company. This afternoon we will take the Waco tour which features one of the homes Chip & Joanna renovated, as well as, Harp Design Co. Dinner tonight will be at a nearby restaurant in Waco. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day Three
This morning we stop at Joanna’s favorite shop, “Cedar Chest Antiques”. Featured on Chip and Joanna’s show this store has it all from furniture to collectibles to pottery to jewelry to clocks and more. The Cedar Chest is renowned for its carefully curated selection of home decor, furnishings, and unique items that embody the Gaines’ signature style. As you explore the store, you’ll have the opportunity to browse through a wide array of farmhouse-inspired products, from rustic furniture pieces to artisanal home accessories. Other landmarks we see before leaving town include the Magnolia House, Magnolia Farm, and Cuppiecakes.
After our boxed lunch, we will head to the San Antonio Riverwalk which is the number one attraction in Texas! Experience the magical powers of the River Walk as you stroll the lush riverside paths lined with towering Cypress trees, restaurants, hotels, shops, museums, and recreation spots. Soak in the history and ambiance of this authentic San Antonio destination. (Breakfast, Lunch, Kickback Dinner)
Day Four
Today visit Fredericksburg, Texas which is a charming and historic town located in the heart of the picturesque Texas Hill Country. Known for its rich German heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and vibrant cultural scene, it offers a delightful travel experience for visitors.
One of the must-visit attractions in Fredericksburg is the Pacific War Museum. This world-class museum pays tribute to the heroic men and women who served in the Pacific during World War II. Here, you can explore immersive exhibits that showcase artifacts, photographs, and interactive displays, providing a comprehensive understanding of the Pacific War and its impact on the world. From the harrowing battles to the triumph of victory, the museum offers a thought-provoking and educational journey through history.
After immersing yourself in the captivating history of the Pacific War, you’ll have the opportunity to explore downtown Fredericksburg for a leisurely lunch. Day Five
Visit Mission San Jose, also known as the “Queen of the Missions,” is part of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you arrive at the mission, you’ll be greeted by the sight of its majestic stone walls and impressive architecture, which reflect the Spanish colonial influence. Step inside to explore the mission grounds and discover its rich history.
Stroll through the picturesque courtyards, adorned with lush gardens and tranquil fountains, while admiring the craftsmanship that went into constructing the mission. The church, with its ornate details and beautiful frescoes, is a sight to behold. Take a moment to absorb the serene atmosphere and learn about the indigenous people and missionaries who once called this place home. The mission offers informative exhibits and interpretive displays that bring the past to life, allowing you to gain a deeper understanding of the cultural significance of the missions in the region.
After delving into history at Mission San Jose, make your way to the SAS Shoe store to experience the city’s thriving retail scene.
