Day One
Depart for your overnight flight to Germany. (Dinner on Plane)
Day Two
This morning we arrive in Ulm, Germany. After our flight, enjoy time to rest or begin exploring this charming city. Visit the soaring Ulm Minster with the tallest church steeple in the world, or stroll the historic Fischerviertel, where half-timbered houses line the Danube. Admire the Renaissance Town Hall and its 16th-century astronomical clock. This evening, we’ll gather for a festive welcome dinner at Zur Forelle, a beloved local restaurant known for its Swabian flair and warm hospitality. (Breakfast on Plane, Welcome Dinner)
Day Three
This morning, enjoy a guided tour of Ulm, where centuries of history and local stories come alive. We’ll enjoy lunch at the historic Zunfthaus der Schiffer, once the guild hall of the boatmen. This afternoon, cruise the Danube aboard a traditional Ulmer Schachtel, a replica of the boats once used by Ulm merchants. Then visit the stunning Wiblingen Monastery, known as the “pearl of the Baroque.” Tonight, we’ll dine at Zu den 3 Kannen, a cozy inn and brewery—don’t miss their beloved Ulmer Drei Kannen beer, brewed on-site and loved by locals. Day Four
Today we depart Ulm and journey through Baden-Württemberg, Upper Swabia, and the scenic Allgäu region. Our first stop is Giengen an der Brenz to tour the Steiff company and its delightful toy museum. Then it’s on to Aalen to explore the Limes Museum, offering insight into Roman life on the Empire’s frontier. Enjoy lunch at Gasthaus zum Goldenen Hirsch in Heubach, serving Heubacher Bier brewed since the 1800s. This afternoon, we arrive in Ludwigsburg and check in at Hotel Nestor, near the grand Baroque Ludwigsburg Palace and its beautiful gardens. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day Five
After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of the grand Ludwigsburg Palace and its Baroque gardens, often called the “Versailles of Swabia.” Next, we visit Hohenasperg Fortress, once a feared prison with a fascinating history. Then it’s off to Stuttgart for a guided tour of the Mercedes-Benz Museum, where the legacy of Karl and Bertha Benz comes to life through the evolution of the automobile. This evening, we head into the countryside for a hearty Swabian dinner at the rustic Waldhorn Restaurant in Lobenrot—an ideal way to end a day rich in history and innovation. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day Six
We begin our day in the historic town of Merklingen, known for its deep Protestant roots and first mentioned in 865. Next, we visit Blaubeuren to see the stunning Blautopf spring, famous for its vivid blue color and the legend of the Beautiful Lau. After lunch in the village of Rottenacker at Rosy’s Inn, we journey south through Wilhelmsdorf to the shores of Lake Constance. Tonight, we stay in the island town of Lindau at the elegant Hotel Bayerischer Hof, perfectly located near the harbor, where we’ll also enjoy dinner with beautiful lake views. Day Seven
This morning, we visit the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen, where the golden age of airship travel comes to life. Learn how passengers once soared from Germany to New York or Rio in style—and don’t miss the restrooms, designed like those aboard the original Zeppelins! Afterward, enjoy a scenic ferry ride back to Lindau, arriving right at the historic harbor. This evening, roll up your sleeves for a hands-on Swabian cooking class featuring regional favorites like Spätzle, Maultaschen, and Apfelfritter—followed by a festive meal celebrating the rich flavors and traditions of southern Germany. Day Eight
Today we travel to Augsburg—one of Germany’s oldest and most captivating cities, known for Mozart’s family, the powerful Fugger dynasty, and layers of European history. Walk cobblestone streets lined with grand guild houses, ornate fountains, and architectural treasures like the Town Hall, Augsburg Cathedral, and Basilica of St. Ulrich and Afra. From Roman times to Martin Luther and the Imperial Diet, Augsburg is a living storybook of culture and commerce. After our visit, we continue to Erding near Munich and check in at the charming Weißbräu Hotel Erding, where we’ll enjoy dinner and a warm Bavarian welcome. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
