Day Two
After our flight touches down in Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital greets us with its mix of medieval charm and Georgian elegance. As we make our way from the airport, glimpses of castle-topped hills and winding cobblestone streets set the stage for our adventure. This evening, we gather for a festive welcome dinner, savoring hearty Scottish flavors and the warm company of fellow travelers—an ideal beginning to our journey through this remarkable land. (Dinner)
Day Three
We begin our day at the crown jewel of the city—Edinburgh Castle—perched high atop Castle Rock, where sweeping views of the skyline frame centuries of Scottish history. Inside its ancient stone walls, we explore regal halls, the Crown Jewels, and the legendary Stone of Destiny. Next, we step aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia, once the floating palace of Queen Elizabeth II, to wander through the State Apartments, the Royal Deck Tea Room, and the gleaming engine room. Our afternoon takes us to the vibrant Port of Leith, where gleaming copper stills and the scent of botanicals welcome us to a tour and tasting at the Port of Leith Distillery—Scotland’s first vertical distillery—offering a spirited toast to the city’s maritime heritage. (Breakfast)
Day Four
Leaving Edinburgh behind, we head north into the heart of Scotland. Our first stop is the remarkable Falkirk Wheel, a modern engineering marvel that lifts boats between two canals with a graceful, rotating sweep. Just nearby, we pause to admire The Kelpies—two towering steel horse heads that shimmer in the light, a tribute to Scotland’s working horses and its rich folklore. Continuing, we arrive at Stirling Castle, a proud fortress and royal residence where Scotland’s kings and queens once walked its grand halls. After exploring its history and breathtaking views, we travel through scenic countryside to the charming town of Pitlochry, our home for the night. (Breakfast)
Day Five
This morning, we journey west through the rugged beauty of the Highlands, where mountains rise like ancient guardians over glistening lochs, until we reach the fishing village of Mallaig. Here, we board a wildlife cruise, gliding across the sea in search of seals basking on rocky shores, seabirds wheeling overhead, and perhaps even a glimpse of dolphins in the wake. After time to enjoy the salty sea air, we step aboard the famed Jacobite Steam Train for a nostalgic ride back through some of Scotland’s most breathtaking landscapes. As the engine’s whistle echoes and steam curls into the sky, we cross the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct—an unforgettable finale to our Highland adventure. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day Six
We begin our day on the serene waters of Loch Lomond, boarding a 90-minute cruise from the charming village of Luss. Glide past wooded islands, rugged hills, and picture-perfect shorelines while learning the legends and history of Scotland’s largest freshwater loch. Back on shore, we enjoy the Haggis Experience, where a lively demonstration reveals the traditions, ingredients, and folklore behind Scotland’s most iconic dish—complete with a flavorful tasting. Our afternoon unfolds in Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, on a guided walking tour through its vibrant center. Discover grand Victorian architecture, bustling squares, and cultural landmarks, from the stately George Square to the elegant Merchant City, all while hearing stories that bring this dynamic city to life. (Breakfast)
Day Seven
This morning, we step into Scotland’s musical heart at Glasgow’s Museum of Piping, where centuries of bagpipe history come to life through rare instruments, interactive displays, and stirring sounds. We then journey south to Gretna Green, the storied border village famous for its romantic runaway weddings. Here, we’ll hear tales of star-crossed lovers and visit the historic blacksmith’s shop that has been uniting couples for over 250 years. Our day concludes in the tranquil beauty of England’s Lake District, where we check in to the luxurious Daffodil Hotel & Spa on the shores of Grasmere. Relax in stylish comfort, perhaps with a stroll along the lake or a rejuvenating spa treatment before dinner. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day Eight
This morning, we step into the literary world of England’s beloved Romantic poet at Wordsworth Grasmere. Wander through Dove Cottage, where William Wordsworth penned some of his most enduring lines, and explore the museum’s evocative exhibits that weave his poetry with the beauty of the Lake District. We then set sail on a tranquil Lake Windermere cruise, gliding past wooded shores, rolling hills, and charming lakeside villages, each view more enchanting than the last. The afternoon is yours to savor the Lake District at your own pace—perhaps browsing quaint shops, lingering in a tearoom, walking a lakeside path, or simply relaxing in the serene scenery that inspired poets and painters alike. (Breakfast)
Day Nine
We begin the day at the awe-inspiring Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the dramatic ruins of a 12th-century Cistercian abbey rise beside tranquil ornamental lakes and elegant landscaped gardens. This extraordinary blend of history and natural beauty invites both quiet reflection and admiration. Next, we travel to York, one of England’s most captivating historic cities, for a guided walking tour through its winding medieval streets. From the timber-framed charm of the Shambles to the mighty city walls, every turn reveals a new chapter of York’s story. We then step inside the magnificent York Minster, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture whose soaring stained glass and intricate stonework have inspired awe for centuries. As evening falls, we experience The Bloody Tour of York, a lively and theatrical journey through the city’s darker past tales of intrigue, crime, and scandal told with a perfect mix of humor and spine-tingling suspense. (Breakfast)
Day Ten
This morning, we board the train from York to London, relaxing as the countryside gives way to the vibrant capital. Upon arrival, we set out on a panoramic city tour, taking in many of London’s most iconic landmarks—from the stately Houses of Parliament and Big Ben to the grandeur of Buckingham Palace and the bustling streets of the West End. Next, we step back in time at the Tower of London, where tales of royalty, intrigue, and the glittering Crown Jewels bring centuries of history to life. As evening falls, we embark on a London dinner cruise along the River Thames. While savoring a delicious meal, we’ll watch the city’s skyline light up—gliding past illuminated bridges, the London Eye, and the majestic dome of St. Paul’s Cathedral. We then settle into the elegant Millennium Bailey’s Hotel London, perfectly located in Kensington, where we’ll stay for the next two nights. (Breakfast, Dinner Cruise)
