Day One
Depart on your flight to the south of Spain.
Day Two
Upon arriving this morning we’ll take a short drive to the scenic village of Ronda for our first night’s stay, starting with a light brunch on arrival. Enjoy a gentle walk through Ronda’s historic streets, perched atop the stunning El Tajo gorge—a view that has inspired writers like Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles. Afterward, we’ll check in to our hotel, with free time to relax. In the evening, we’ll gather for a welcoming dinner with wine. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day Three
We’ll depart Ronda in the morning, heading west toward Seville, with a stop in Osuna. Famous for its quarries that have supplied fine marble since Roman times, we’ll explore the Canteras de Osuna, often called Spain’s Petra, featuring caves and ancient carvings dating back to 500 BC. Afterwards, we continue to Seville, where late afternoon offers free time to wander the city’s historic streets and soak in its vibrant atmosphere. (Breakfast, Lunch)
Day Four
Today we tour Seville, the heart of Andalucía, which captivates with its vibrant culture, stunning architecture, and historic charm. Begin at the magnificent Seville Cathedral and climb the Giralda Tower for sweeping city views. Explore the Royal Alcázar, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its intricate Mudéjar architecture and lush gardens. Wander the Santa Cruz quarter’s narrow, flower-filled streets, and enjoy the lively atmosphere of Plaza de España. Finish with a taste of Andalusian life in a traditional tapas bar or watch a passionate flamenco performance. Seville is a city where history, beauty, and culture come alive. (Breakfast)
Day Five
After exploring Seville, we’ll head east toward the Mediterranean coast, stopping first in the charming town of Setenil de las Bodegas, famous for its houses and streets built into the cliffs—offering stunning, picture-perfect views. After lunch, we continue to Málaga to visit the Pablo Picasso Museum, exploring the inspiration behind the works of one of the 20th century’s greatest artists. Later, we’ll journey along Spain’s Costa Tropical to Almuñécar, our home for the next 10 nights. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day Six
Today, discover the charm of Almuñécar, a coastal gem with over 3,000 years of history. Your guide will lead you on a captivating walking tour of ancient landmarks—from the Phoenician fish-salting factory in El Majuelo Park to the Roman Aqueduct and Thermal Baths—revealing the layers of civilizations that shaped this vibrant town. Wander the Old Quarter’s whitewashed streets, pausing at traditional tapas bars to enjoy fresh seafood, jamón ibérico, and local specialties. The tour concludes at Peñón del Cristo, a stunning coastal viewpoint, where panoramic sea views accompany a final tapa by the shore. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day Seven
Free day to enjoy the delights of Almunecar. Maybe go shopping in one of the delightful cobbled streets of the town’s medieval old quarter. Or maybe enjoy a nice relaxing day on the beach. Perhaps you wish to do some more exploring. (Breakfast)
Day Eight
After breakfast, we’ll take a coach ride east to the Valley of the Alpujarra, one of the last strongholds of Spain’s ancient Arab-descended communities. Known for its tranquil way of life, the valley has long attracted writers, artists, and musicians seeking inspiration and retreat.
Our discovery begins in Capileira, Spain’s highest village at 4,850 ft, where we’ll sample some of the finest Serrano ham and learn why it’s a Spanish staple. We’ll then explore the villages along the Poqueira Gorge, famed for their whitewashed medieval architecture built from olive branches and mountain stone.
Next, visit a traditional weaving workshop, preserving centuries-old techniques and colors from the Silk Road. Enjoy local wine and cheese tasting at an artisan shop, with free time for shopping for woven crafts and souvenirs. We return to our hotel in the late afternoon. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day Nine
After breakfast, we’ll take a 45-minute coach ride north to Granada. Our visit begins at the Alhambra Palace, one of the world’s most majestic palaces and Spain’s most visited historical site. Explore its elegant rooms, intricate courtyards, and imposing fortifications, all overlooking the city below. Later, we’ll visit an award-winning winery to uncover the secrets of Spanish wine and enjoy a guided tasting of its finest offerings. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day Ten
Step into the rich history and flavors of the Costa Tropical with a visit to a traditional rum distillery, where you’ll learn about the region’s centuries-old sugarcane heritage and sample locally crafted rum. Then, venture to the pirate coves of Cabria Beach, a hidden coastal gem once used by smugglers, now offering crystal-clear waters and rugged cliffs. Enjoy a leisurely stroll or a refreshing swim before savoring a delicious seaside lunch of fresh seafood and regional specialties. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day Eleven
Today, journey to Granada and step back in time as you explore the Albayzín, the city’s historic Moorish quarter. Wander its labyrinth of narrow, cobbled streets, lined with whitewashed houses, hidden courtyards, and traditional cármenes—charming homes with lush gardens. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Alhambra, its majestic towers framed by the Sierra Nevada. Along the way, explore bustling markets, sip Moroccan tea in a tetería, and experience the unique blend of Andalusian and Arabic influences. On the return to Almuñécar, visit an ancient olive mill to see traditional olive-pressing techniques and enjoy a tasting of fresh olive oil. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day Twelve
In the morning, we’ll take a scenic 90-minute coach ride east to Almería, often called Spain’s desert and famous as the filming location for countless Wild West movies of the 1950s and ’60s. After a stop for lunch, we’ll visit Mini Hollywood, a Wild West theme park featuring live shows inspired by classic films. In the evening, we’ll return to Almuñécar (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day Thirteen
After breakfast, we’ll explore the unique caves of Nerja, Spain’s underground wonder, home to some of the world’s largest stalactites. Next, visit Frigiliana, a hilltop town historically known as the “Little Jerusalem of the Mediterranean,” where Christians, Muslims, and Jews lived in harmony for centuries. Stroll its charming streets and enjoy a taste of local Moscatel sweet wine. Afterwards, we’ll visit Nerja, a picturesque fishing town perched on cliffs overlooking the turquoise Mediterranean. On the return, we’ll drive along the Goats’ Road, one of the most scenic coastal routes in the region. (Breakfast)
Day Fourteen
Enjoy a free morning to finish any last-minute shopping or take a final stroll through the historic streets of Almuñécar. In the early afternoon, visit a fruit plantation to learn about the region’s unique tropical trees and enjoy some fresh fruit tasting. In the evening, gather for a farewell dinner with wine at a local restaurant, celebrating the flavors and memories of your Costa Tropical journey. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day Fifteen
It’s time to say goodbye to the Almunecar and our beautiful Mediterranean coastline. Our transfer will bring you back to the US. (Breakfast)
